Plesna izba Maribor, dance school and production company that celebrates 30 years of all year round dance classes, had their annual summer production that was, given the jubilee, quite special!

Rock concert on a raft!

Raft is certainly not your typical rock venue, but Maribor is not your typical town, and Miha, the concert organizer, is not your typical concert organizer :)

Last Friday it felt like the festival season already started in Maribor - there were 3 really cool concerts at 3 different venues in town and luckily, not at the same time! :) The first one was of a young Croatian and very talented singer/songwriter Dunja Ercegović, known also as Lovely Quinces, that I was eager to see.

The only rock band in the world that played both in North Korea and South Korea came to Zagreb together with RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra with a brilliant multivisual programme titled "Our songs, your dreams".

First edition of the Back To The - Future Jazz festival, organised by Gramofonoteka team, included two nights of, well, future jazz music - sadly, I was there only the first night.

Happy Ol' McWeasel are the best Slovenian Irish punk band, that celebrated their 10th anniversary and St. Patrick's day combined this Saturday in their hometown Maribor. And what a show it was! :)

Their intelligent, witty, ironical and satirical lyrics were actually quite a revelation to me when I moved to Slovenia more than decade ago and were one of my first Slovenian bands that I truly enjoyed while I learned the language. I still do.

This past weekend I was very happy and privileged, to document 32nd Winter dance school (32. Zimska plesna šola) - my third in a roll - that was organised by JSKD and held in Plesna izba Maribor. Full of very talented young dancers and their great mentors, this workshop was again, just as last two years, a joy to photograph! :)
