Dafnis Prietos Proverb Trio
Narodni dom Maribor, Mali oder, Maribor (Slovenia), 18/01/2012
Latin sounds mixed with electronics and rap is what Dafnis Prietos Proverb Trio is all about - it really is a "afro-cuban jazz for the new millennium", as the PR announcement of the concert said.
Perpetuum Jazzile
Dvorana Tabor, Maribor (Slovenia), 14/01/2012
Perpetuum Jazzile is a Slovenian "XL pop jazz a cappella group" who got really famous with their version of Toto's "Africa" (on this day, this YouTube video has over 12.370.000 views!) and who are, IMHO, destined for a great world success. Sold out gig in Maribor with live Blue-Ray recording is just a small step towards that.
Best of 2011
My personal concert favorites of the year 2011 & some more...
To say farewell to another year, I'm recapitulating the last 365 days - 2011 has been quite successful year for me, with few of the highlights being...
Nina Bulatovix
Pekarna, Dvorana Gustaf, Maribor (Slovenia), 23/12/2011
Probably the last shooting gig in the year 2011, was my first proper concert of Slovenian trio Nina Bulatovix (saw them before briefly on one small festival), which was quite nice & loud experience.
Bratko Bibič & The Madleys
MuziKafe, Ptuj (Slovenia), 02/12/2011
In a packed ambient of a great small club MuziKafe in the town of Ptuj, well known Slovenian accordionist, vocalist and composer Bratko Bibič took us on an extraordinary musical trip with his fellow musicians.

Autumn Leaves Festival 2011
Orpheum, Graz (Austria), 24/11 > 26/11/2011
Great and cosy small festival which gave some great artists, with mine highlights being the performances of L/O/N/G, Der Nino aus Wien, Tunng and Maria Doyle Kennedy.
Paramount Styles + Werefox
MIKK, Murska Sobota (Slovenia), 19/11/2011
Great gig from Scott McCloud's (ex-Girls Against Boys) latest band, plus debut concert of a new small Slovenian supergroup, plus interview with Scott after, plus meeting a lot of friends in one night - what can be better that this? :)

Sex Mob

Sex Mob: play Duke Ellington, Nino Rota and James Bond!
Yuck + The ArtbreakHeartshop
Magnet club, Berlin (Germany), 01/11/2011
While in Berlin, I was really happy to see once again Yuck, really cool young indie rock band from London. I saw them first time this summer at FM4 Frequency festival, and I really liked their music - mix of Dinosaur Jr. meets Yo La Tengo plus a bit of Pixies and Sonic Youth...
Adriano Celentano Gebäckorchester
Antje Öklesund, Berlin (Germany), 29/10/2011
Adriano Celentano Gebäckorchester is a group of musicians performing old Italian pop songs using a name of a famous Italian singer, songwriter, comedian, actor and film director as a hommage. Their gig was mixed with a birthday party, so the level of dance, singing and fun among the crowd in the crowded underground club Antje Öklesund was quite, quite high!
London Calling - a night of stand-up comedy
Narodni dom Maribor, Velika dvorana, Maribor (Slovenia), 25/10/2011
Apparatjik
Orpheum, Graz (Austria), 15/10/2011
Apparatjik are Magne Furuholmen (a-ha), Guy Berryman (Coldplay), Jonas Bjerre (Mew) and producer Martin Terefe. They are four guys in shiny uniforms playing in a cube. They are 50% art and 50% pop!
Ginger Baker & Jonas Hellborg Group
Narodni dom Maribor, Velika dvorana, Maribor (Slovenia), 10/10/2011
Four outstanding musicians, gathered under the name of Ginger Baker & Jonas Hellborg Group, gave us two hours of very energetic (and in some moments, very loud), inspiring and moving music.
