Organised by Maribor's agile concert organiser Solar Pulse, Helika was my second gig of that night (after Austrian electro / post-rock trio Radian) and a quite special one, I must add. It’s not just that I really like them, and that my wife plays violin in the band (and she plays it big time!), it was also the first time that our son was away for the weekend at his grandparents - big night, I told you! :)
I’ve seen the band playing few times, but this was probably their best performance so far! Already looking forward to next ones! :)

Solar Pulse Music festival - 10th anniversary edition

Solar Pulse Music is a very agile and very cool collective organising concerts of independent music bands in Maribor. And they’ve been doing this already for the last ten years (time really does fly)! To celebrate that momentum, they put together a four day festival bringing us some of the best underground and indie bands from Slovenia (plus guests from Austria and Finland), featuring many, many different musical styles.

Helika, promo shooting
Last weekend I did a quick promo photoshoot for a Croatian/Slovenian band Helika, which, I’m sure, is already a pretty known name to the regular readers of my blog since I’ve been photographing them on multiple occasions. And that’s not just because my wife is in the band, but also ‘cause I really like their "trip pop" music!

Helika is a new and exciting Croatian-Slovenian band which is practicing hard for the live promotion of their debut album - I recently visited them in their studio for a quick documentary style photo shoot.
