ABOP is shorten for After je bolji od partija ("After is better than party", in Croatian) which is a Croatian kind of supergroup, consisting of members from well known Croatian rock, pop & etno bands including Pips, Chips & Videoclips, Elemental, Lollobrigida, Meritas and Kries.
Combined together, they play instrumental electro dance music live which is always a nice change to "one man with a laptop" DJs, especially if you have two great drummers like ABOP has!
This was actually the first time I finally got the chance to see them live, although they’re pretty active and have played some festivals where I was shooting in the past, and what a first time it was! Brilliant musicians and a great gig in a legendary Maribor’s DIY club!
PS: Big shoutout & thanks go to Igor Unuk for providing extra ligths - it made all the difference! ;)
Sixth edition of a smaller rock festival in my old home town, and the first one on a new location - instead of old army barracks, this year it was lake Šoderica, some 20 minutes away from the city. Also, my first time on this festival :)
Free train raid from Maribor to Ruše, bus from Ruše uphill to Pohorje mountain, an hour of hiking through the woods, then a concert of a cool band in a mountain house - sounds like a great Friday afternoon / night, right?
Dom sportova, Mala dvorana, Zagreb (Croatia), 06/12/2014
Continuing our fruitful collaboration, I was very happy and honoured to be invited from the band to shoot probably their biggest live show in their career (so far, that is!) in a sold out Small hall of Dom sportova in Zagreb last weekend. And amazing concert it was!
Train line Maribor - Ruše, Maribor (Slovenia), 28/11/2014
I don’t know of many bands that consists only of vocal, keyboards, cajon and bas and Miki Solus, young Croatian trio with great lyrics and cool music, are just that kind of a band. I also don’t know of many bands who performed in a train carriage (on a regular train line!), and Miki Solus did just that last Friday night!
After I missed what is now considered to be a legendary gig in Maribor when Punčke played Stolp 3 some time ago, I was sure not to miss this one. There were two main reasons for this: firstly, Punčke are great young female rock trio from Croatia that are brilliant for photographing live and secondly, the organiser of the concert, Miha Lovše, deserves every respect of concert lovers in Maribor and Slovenia.
Festival Lent, Maribor (Slovenia), 20/06 > 05/07/2014
Festival Lent 2014: 16 days of hard work and so much fun - the photo story continues, this time including regional and local stars Elemental, Goblini, Đorđe Balašević, Los Hermanos muy simpaticos (muy simpaticos!) and many, many more!
Festival Lent, Maribor (Slovenia), 20/06 > 05/07/2014
Shooting 16 days lasting festival (!!) as one of the official photographers can be really tough, but a great joy, too! Here is the first gallery of photos from this years festival, others are following!
Happy to continue my collaboration with one of my dearest Croatian bands Pips, Chips & Videoclips, promoting their new (and a great one!) album called "Walt". The concert, which was official promotion of the aforementioned CD, was held in the packed Tvornica kulture club in Croatia's capital Zagreb, and it was a brilliant one!
Although weather forecasts didn't look so good for that day and particularly that evening for Udine region, at the end of the evening, everything was in it's right place. Amazing night with an amazing band!
Titled "Moj vikend u zemlji čudesa - Snimanje koncertnog albuma '2x2' grupe Pips, Chips & Videoclips" ("My weekend in the Wonderland - Recording of a live album '2x2' by Pips, Chips & Videoclips"), which is a homage to the official biography of the band ("Dugi vikend u zemlji čudesa" -...

2x2: Live CD and DVD recording
To have the opportunity to shoot one of your favorite bands when they are recording their first live album and live DVD in their career, is a privilege. To be one of the two official photographers that are shooting for the band that night, is a joy :)
