Can you guess who a person in a photo is?
Professional photographers often shoot in the burst mode - that is, taking multiple pictures of the same scene - be it because of the scene that is constantly changing or because of avoiding the subject with their eyes closed.
This is a very usual thing in concert photography - with energetic musicians performing, the scene is changing rapidly. Of course, in this burst of images, one always gets some "rubbish" images where the person in front of the lens has a strange look on the face, goes out of the frame or has his face hidden behind his hand, instrument or something else.
So, what started as a "mistake", very soon continued to be my ongoing photographic project, where I deliberately try to get the image of a performer with their face hidden. Funny thing is that even without his/her face shown, viewer can often distinguish the person in the photograph, because of their stage outfit, hairstyle, tattoo(s) or just a pose typical for that artist, where some of them are known worldwide and others "just" on a local base. That is why I am probably one of the few concert photographers that don't start to swear when someone or something comes in between him and the artist but use the opportunity for another "(Un)known face".
You can look at this project as a pop quiz ("Guess who's that"), psychology test on what outfit, usual poses and gestures do for an artist ("Feel in the missing face") or just pure fun - it's up to you.
But the real question is: can you guess who a person on a photo is? Click on the thumbnail to find out!
Some of the photographs from this project have been awarded the 1st place in "Advertising : Music NON-PRO" category at the International Photography Awards 2012.
