Lajkó Félix
SNG Maribor, Kazinska dvorana, Maribor (Slovenia), 07/02/2012
Hungarian violinist born in Vojvodina (northern part of Serbia, with strong Hungarian minority), Lajkó Félix is a well known violinist, zither player and composer. He is best known for playing very different musical styles, form traditional string music of the Pannonian plain, Romani music, folk music, classical music, to rock, blues, jazz and improvised melodies.
This was my second concert of his, after the EXIT festival in 2003, where he completely left me with my mouth wide open with his fast fingers and beautiful melodies. With his faithful violist Antal Brasnyó by his side, Lajkó gave Maribor's audience an extraordinary performance followed by few encores, though I would much prefer to see and photograph him playing in some less classical place than this hall.
