So, let’s meet the two main "characters" of this story.
Djembabe "are Maribor based female percussion group who successfully mix traditional West African rhythms with a pinch of Slav temperament", I wrote almost 3 years ago, when I had a quick photo shoot with them. Fast forward to end of 2015, and Djembabe have two additional members - Asja Grauf on flute and my wife Špela Huzjak on violin - whose instruments and style of music goes really well with the other girls.
Glas podzemlja (Voice of undergound) is an extremely cool underground place (makes you feel like you're in some new place in Berlin or Brooklyn!) and recording studio in Maribor, that I have to admit, I discovered only now. They’ve been very agile in promoting local and foreign artist, giving them ability to play live sessions that are broadcasted live on Maribor’s student radio Radio MARŠ and as a live radio stream on their website.
These two combined, gave us a brilliant evening in an intimate atmosphere full of warm music & cool people that was just what we needed in the cold winter night! :)

The girls from Djembabe are just in the process of finishing their second album, so this concert at Festival Etnika 2018 in Maribor was a great opportunity for the home audience to hear some new material as well as the old hits from their debut album.
